Why vendor lists exist
"DHgate vendor spreadsheet", "best dhgate sellers spreadsheet" and "dhgate vendors" searches come from buyers who have worked out the central truth of DHgate: the platform is the same for everyone, but the seller decides your experience. A vendor list is a set of store names someone recommends. Its value depends on why each store is on it, which is why this page focuses on how to check a seller yourself.
The five-minute check
| Check | Where on DHgate | Green | Red |
|---|---|---|---|
| Store age | Store page header | More than a year | Weeks or months |
| Review volume | Store and listing reviews | Hundreds, steady over time | Few, or a sudden burst |
| Newest reviews | Sort listing reviews by date | Recent, with buyer photos | Recent complaints about wrong items |
| Badges | Store header | Top or Premium Merchant | None, on a high-priced item |
| Response | Send a question in DHgate chat | Answer within a day, with photos | No reply, or a request to move to WhatsApp |
Store age, recent photo reviews and an answer inside DHgate chat are the three signals that matter most.
Red flags that end the check
Stop if a seller asks you to pay by bank transfer, gift card, PayPal friends-and-family or crypto, or to complete the order outside DHgate for a discount. Stop if they ask you to confirm delivery before the item arrives, or to close a dispute so they can "refund you directly". Each of these removes DHgate's escrow, which is the only protection you have. Trustpilot reviews of DHgate, read on 6 October 2026, include several buyers who lost money exactly this way.
Reading reviews properly
A listing's star rating is an average over its whole history, which hides recent changes. Sort reviews by newest and read the last twenty. Look for consistent comments about size, colour and material, and for buyer photos taken in normal light. Be wary of reviews that are all five stars with short generic text posted in the same week. If a seller has many listings, read reviews on two or three different items; one strong listing can mask a weak store.
Asking the seller the right questions
Good sellers answer specific questions. Ask for measurements in centimetres for your size, a real photo of the item in stock, the shipping line to your country and its estimated time, and whether the colour matches the main photo. The quality of the answer tells you as much as the content. A seller who sends a fresh photo with a handwritten note or today's date is usually confident in their stock.
Building your own vendor list
After each order, note the seller, what you bought, whether it matched, and how they handled any issue. After a few orders, you have a short list of sellers you trust, which is far more useful than a long list from a stranger. Our template has columns for exactly this.
When a vendor goes bad
Sellers change suppliers, and quality can drop without warning. If recent reviews turn negative, stop ordering even if your past orders were good. If you have an open order, keep the dispute window in mind and document what arrives. The quality check page explains what to photograph and when to open a case.
Vendors versus agents
On DHgate you vet the vendor; with an agent you also vet the agent, but the warehouse photos let you check the item itself before it ships. If a seller is borderline, buying the equivalent Taobao item through an agent from our status table moves the quality check before the international leg.
Vendor list formats you will see
Vendor lists come in three shapes. Some are just store names, which tells you little. Some add a category, such as "jerseys" or "hoodies", which helps you know where a seller is strong. The most useful add the curator's own order history: what they bought, when, and how it went. If a list includes dates and outcomes, it has done half the vetting for you. If it is a bare list of names, do the full check above on each seller before buying.
Seller behaviour after the sale
Pay attention to how a seller behaves once you have paid. Good sellers ship within the handling time they listed, upload a tracking number promptly and reply when you ask about delays. Warning signs are a tracking number that never scans, a sudden request to extend the protection window without explanation, or pressure to confirm receipt early. If any of these happen, note the dispute deadline and be ready to open a case.
Five minutes per seller feels slow the first time. By the third seller it becomes a habit, and it is the single step most likely to separate a good DHgate order from a dispute you would rather not have to open.
Keep notes as you go, and the next check is quicker.
FAQ
What is a DHgate Top Merchant?
A seller badge DHgate awards for sales and service metrics. It is a useful signal but not a guarantee; read recent reviews too.
Should I trust a vendor list from TikTok?
Use it for names, then run the five-minute check on each seller yourself.
Why do sellers ask to move to WhatsApp?
Often to arrange payment outside DHgate, which removes your protection. Keep chats on DHgate.
How many recent reviews are enough?
Twenty or more in the last few months, with photos, is a good sample.
Can I report a bad seller?
Yes, through the order's dispute or DHgate's report function, and by leaving an honest review.
Is a newer seller always a bad choice?
Not always, but with no track record you are relying on the listing alone. Keep the first order small and cheap.
Do high order counts mean a good seller?
Order counts show popularity, not quality, and can be shared across variants. Recent photo reviews say more.
Can I see a seller's dispute history?
Not directly. Recent negative reviews and complaint threads naming the store are the best proxy.
