Pandabuy was the dominant agent before the April 2024 raid, and much of today's spreadsheet culture grew around it. Buyers who lost Pandabuy often looked at DHgate as an alternative because it needs no agent at all.

Is DHgate a Pandabuy replacement?

A short history
Pandabuy grew in 2022 and 2023 into the agent most spreadsheets were built for, with a large catalogue, community features and easy link pasting. In April 2024 it was raided, operations were disrupted, and users reported frozen balances and stuck parcels. It never recovered its scale. DHgate, meanwhile, became much better known in April 2025, when TikTok videos pushed it to second place among free iPhone apps in the US. For many buyers, the order of events was: lose Pandabuy, try another agent, then discover DHgate during the 2025 surge.
Cost compared for a typical Pandabuy-style haul
A typical Pandabuy haul was five to ten items from several Taobao and Weidian sellers, shipped in one parcel. Rebuilding that on DHgate means several sellers and several parcels, each with its own shipping and tax handling; rebuilding it on a working agent means one parcel. For that kind of haul, an agent usually remains cheaper. For buyers who used Pandabuy for one item at a time, DHgate is often simpler and similar in price.
